Reviews from visitors:
Really disappointing and not worth the visit. Though the name and vibrant culture of Austin combine to promise an interesting and captivating experience in this market, the reality falls far short of this potential. There are rarely more than one or two vendors here, and the products they offer are rarely anything really eye catching.
I bought smokey quartz earrings here, didn’t really have a good experience. I think the earrings were was colored glass instead of actual quartz
No one is ever there. It's a great idea located in the wrong place; the non-entities that are UT students don't care, and the loonies bug you for a hand-out... because street artists have loads of cash to throw around, right?
The concept be would work on South Congress, but not where it is.
This eclectic outdoor market has remained in the same place with the same standard (local artists & craftspeople selling their own hand-made wares) since the 1970's. There are very few places left in Austin that can claim that lineage. The wide variety of artisans, their work and the price ranges ensure there's something for just about anyone at the 23rd Street Artists Market. I can't think of a place to find a more authentic Austin souvenir than strolling through. My favorite thing about 23rd Street is that it's never the same place twice (great photo ops & eateries all around too). Support your local artists and help Keep Austin Austin.
What I saw was nice ( 2 booths) but I was expecting a real market!!! We drove 30 minutes from hotel for a let down:(
