Reviews from visitors:
We stayed at this hotel very soon after Colombia allowed tourists to come without mandatory testing. I thought we were the only guests at this hotel. Nevertheless, the restaurant was opened and served us the drinks and tasty food. We swam in the pool, had great breakfasts every morning, could order food in the room. There is a big mall nearby as well as Castillo de San Felipe. We liked the location although we had to take taxis every time we wanted to go to the old Town. But since the taxi was only $3-4, it didn't bother us. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. They gave us everything we asked. The room was fine, not the best we've seen, but for the price it was good enough. We highly recommend this hotel!
Loved this hotel. Nice modern rooms. Only suggestion is to have some shade by the pool.
It was a real pleasure, at the end of my trip, to stay in this hotel with modern conveniences, comfortably suited to American tastes and needs. I was looking for a place to stay for my last night in Cartagena (coming back from Tayrona National Park and flying out the next day) and I came across this very inexpensively priced, rather modern looking hotel, just outside of the historic walled city, but right across from the Castillo San Felipe. Earlier in the trip I had stayed in the historic city, which has its wonderful charms - but is also noisy, full of traffic, lots of tourists, pushy street vendors, very expensive lodging; and there were the sacrifices that come with staying in beautiful old historic lodging - hard beds, small bathrooms, deteriorated surroundings, lukewarm to cold water showers, unreliable air-conditioning, stairs, etc...
This hotel is nondescript from the outside, kind of built within and above a business center. But the lobby is glass and marble, with nice furniture and appointments. It is not a big hotel. I was received with a cold glass of water infused with fresh fruit flavor, a wet towel to wash my hands and face, and lots of smiles and bienvenidos! Check-in was very easy and professional. The employees are incredibly courteous and helpful. There is an elevator (non-existent in the historic city). I was in room 303, which was very comfortable, spacious, big, soft (perfect texture) king size bed, great pillows, carpet, marble and glass bathroom with all toiletries, hair dryer, etc... Shower was hot(!) and lots of water volume from an enormous rain style shower head. There is an iron and ironing board in the closet. Small mini-fridge, mini bar, safe, TV, phone, room service, etc... Most every convenience. Everything is clean and organized. Air-conditioner is excellent! I was told there was a free ten minute massage, with the option of paying for more time, but I did not make time for this amenity.
From my room window a very ordinary view, but on the same 3rd floor, around the corner from my room, there was a nice, small indoor sitting area, a beautiful outdoor patio area, outdoor sitting area with tables and sun umbrellas, small pool, everything connected to a decent restaurant, all with an amazing view of the castle directly across. everything is big glass windows between inside and outside so as not to impede the view. I had my last dinner, a free breakfast, and then lunch all at the hotel (while swimming and enjoying the view), and ordered some great local style Colombian food!
I walked right over to the entrance of the Castillo, and took a tour. Great views of the new and old Cartagena from up there. If you walk on the other side of the Castillo there is a little park where lots of street vendors with stalls are selling lots of souvenirs, more cheaply than in the old city, to get your knickknacks more cheaply for people back home. A good 10 minute walk, or a brief taxi ride and you are at the clock tower entrance of the old city, where all the old town action begins. The same, and you are back in a quiet, cool, island of peace and calm in this great hotel (I did this for my last few hours in Cartagena). There appears to be some malls close by, and a few supermarket type shops, all within walking distance. There is a 24 hour security guard. Also there is a courtesy shuttle to and from the airport; a large, comfortable car. Very friendly driver. I don't know if it is free on arrival, but I had to pay 20,000 cop, which was like $6? to go to the airport. Pretty much the same as a regular taxi. Worth it. Super comfortable. I also gave the driver a tip. I tipped the people at the hotel during my stay, but I do not think it is necessary. But they were so nice!
Walking around local area is fine. I would not walk around late at night. Some taxi drivers confused about location of hotel. Have the address in your phone to show them. Hotel is best deal for what you get in town! Check all internet travel apps, I found a really low price after searching different ones.
Stunning, stylish and modern hotel just outside the walls of the old town with spectacular views over the old Castillo (you pay extra for rooms with a view of this) There is a rooftop pool, sun lounges and a restaurant with a view of the Castillo. The rooms are air-conditioned, spacious, clean and comfortable. The hop on/hop off bus stops right across the road from the hotel so you can enjoy trips around Cartagena without worrying to find your hotel. The breakfast is pretty poor for the standard of the hotel, but otherwise, staff are friendly and helpful.
Staff are the stars here, they really do try their best to help. One of our motorbikes had starting issues they telephoned mechanics and even offered to send a member of staff with us in a taxi on a parts hunt. Great place to relax, easy 20 mins to old town, double glazed rooms are quiet and the air con is quiet at nights. Great pancakes at breakfast!
