Quiet, nice. You're reprimanded for taking photos because apparently, like in the Amazon, the locals believe a photo steals their soul. Or reduces the likelihood to sell their expensive printed photo albums. Either way, they dislike lifting the rock under which they're hiding.
It’s a smaller version of the Heraklion’s archeological museum but nevertheless it’s highly informative, educational and amusing.
The museum is OK. It was a very hot day and my 14 year old daughter had asked before going to Chania if it was ok for her to wear a bikini top and a skirt, it was so hot and I said "of course". We decided to go in the archaeological museum on an impulse. We walked through the whole museum without anybody reacting to what she was wearing, until the very end when a lady that works there started to tell us she has to cover up. Now we know about the traditions regarding to churches, but this was not a church. Also, please if the museum did have issues with clothing, please say so before taking our money and letting us enter! The whole scene she made just ruined the whole experience.
Nice museum. No shop (ignore the FAQ) and staff were rude about my mask as it wasn't "normal" (I have a Montana mask as I find it better with my glasses and less of an issue with asthma. It's not common but is acceptable)
Small, but worth visiting
