Reviews from visitors:
The Franciscan Monastery and Church are located next to the church of St. Saviour near Onofrio's Fountain. The construction of the complex began in 1317 and works lasted for the whole 14th Century. According to legend, Francis of Assisi visited Dubrovnik on his world travels at the start of the 13th Century and it's since then that the Franciscans have worked in Dubrovnik. The Franciscan Monastery is famous across the world for its pharmacy which is the oldest working pharmacy in the world. When it began working in 1317, it was the third oldest in the world after Baghdad's and Padua's. Both of those pharmacies have stopped operating as pharmacies since, whie the Franciscan one in Dubrovnik still works today. The Franciscan Monastery houses a museum that is open every day.
Very small museum consisting only of a courtyard and one room with exhibits. There is no much information about anything so it's just looking at artifacts and guessing what they mean. Add to that rude cashier and false information that he is giving and you'll get the full picture. The only thing that is worth admiring is renaissance style atrium, it takes you back to the medieval times
They charged us 40kn for two people but we think he reduced the price for us. A quick visit but very pretty.
Nice place to visit if you have Dubrovnik Card. Otherwise might be overpriced - visit will take about 10 minutes, but at least you'll rest a little from the masses on old town streets.
Beautiful and well-preserved monastery from the 14th century. It's a great respite from the hectic streets of Dubrovnik but makes for a quick visit as there is not a whole lot to see.
As with many of the museums and attractions in Dubrovnik over the last few years (thanks to price increases), it's probably only worth stopping in if you have a vested interest in the architecture or history of the monastery, or if you have the Dubrovnik card and therefore free admission. I had the card and enjoyed the visit, but don't think it would have been worth the ticket price otherwise.
