Reviews from visitors:
The Mexuar room is the where the Nasrid Palace tour begins. Take your time to admire the intricate details of a distant past. Quite stunning. The Mexuar room quietly sets the tone for the remainder of the tour.
Very nice room. All the sights of the Alhambra are very well preserved. Everywhere you can enjoy the charm and charisma of the palace gardens and the artistic details of the handicrafts. Again and again you will find lovingly tended romantic gardens.
The Mexuar is the oldest palace of the three that make up the Casa Real or Nasrid Palaces. It performed the function of courtroom, Justice and Council on certain days for the citizens of Granada. It is undoubtedly the one that has suffered the most from the transformations that have occurred over the centuries to adapt it to new services and functions.
It owes its name to the Arabic term Maswar, where the Sura or Council of Ministers met. It was also the place or anteroom where the Sultan delivered justice.
This room must have belonged to a structure previous to the Comares Palace and the Los Leones Palace, probably the one built by Isma’il I (1314-1325) and has undergone numerous transformations.
It is a pity that the Nasrid palaces were modified, although fortunately for all of us not destroyed or stripped of their essence. It is a real pleasure as different styles converge in the Mexuar room (council room)
