Awesome collection of art that's clean and well maintained. Staff was helpful and awesome when we seemed lost. And above all, a very impactful and educating experience overall. Wish I could give 6 stars.
I went to school here when I was a child and I was learning painting skills and I liked it nowadays I wait for the dope man who meets me near that place so I play catch with my dog in front cuz they have nice grass and you know how dope is I pretty much show up there all hours of the day and night and I pretty much get told that it's private property and I need to go and I pretty much just don't listen I finish playing with my dog the don't Man shows up I get the stuff and I'm gone. Now this story was it fabrication in a work of pure fiction any no way shape or form does this actually take place because that would be illegal. The names were changed to protect the innocent. There is no dog there is no nice grass there is no dope man there is no nothing. But did you have nice grass to play with your dog on while you're waiting for whoever.
The Honolulu Museum of Art is a beautiful place to view amazing collections of art. From Hawaiian artifacts to world masters. You will love the architecture of the museum.
Also parking was free at the exit door of the museum on a Saturday, which was pretty dope!
A must see while in O’ahu
If you’re a local then I understand but if you’re coming from a big city then you will likely have seen most of these pieces at your local art museum. I’m giving it 2 stars because I was expecting a huge selection of native Hawaiian art. Though there was a section for Hawaiian art, it was only one floor and it was a small section.
The only pro of this was that we stayed at the Aqua Aloha Surf Hotel and our stay included tickets to this museum. If it weren’t for that, I don’t think it was worth the entry price.
I came to this museum not expecting very much since this is not a large city but I was pleasantly surprised to discover it’s a fantastic museum. The impressionist collection has at least one work from every master that you would expect, and they were all nice pieces.
The museum also has an extensive collection of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean Art. The Islamic holdings are also very interesting.
If you have any interest in art, to make the time to stop by and I think you’ll be surprised!
