This place is part of our History!
Wonderful place. Architecturally beautiful and renovated building complex. It's nice to see a religious building in good condition and pleasing to the eye. Located in the very center. Close to other tourist attractive places. Very close to Київський фунікулер and then to the metro station Поштова площа (blue metro line). The same road to the Dnieper River.
I was here too. Magnificent is the word best described it. The church golden domed could be seen from distance. The church has a large square at it front and inside is adorned with beautiful classical paintings. Even if one is not a Christian, it is place to visit to pictures and admire architecture master piece.
St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery is a functioning Orthodox monastery in honor of Archangel Michael in Kyiv, the cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
The original church was built in 1108–1113 by the grandson of Yaroslav the Wise by the Kyivan prince Sviatopolk Izyaslavych on the basis of St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral. Cross-domed six-pillar temple with three naves and one gilded dome. At the beginning of the XX century the church was seven-domed. It was destroyed in the 1930s and rebuilt in 1997-1998.
Just another golden domed religious area located just a few hundred meters far from St. Sophia. Apart from being a nice example of eastern church architecture, it let's you look into the monastical life of orthodox monks - the monastery is still functional.
Just outside the monastery you may pay respect to the victims of the Russian- Ukrainian war.
