Beautiful house, furnitures with many art nouveau stained glasses and paintings by Mehoffer. A coffee after in the garden is a nice bonus!
Mehoffer's House on Krupnicza is quite a special place.
First at all it is a place where Stanislaw Wyspiański was born.
It could have been coincidence(or not) that much later on his friend Mehoffer(or shall we say ex-friend as they fell out)bought the house in quite derelict state and made it into a family home.The museum has kept original layouts,so it is like wandering around somebody's home and looking at the art on the walls and mantelpieces. It has got lots of beautiful surprises such as the Japanese room full of Hiroshige's work.The garden(open to public) is also very pleasant green oasis. The small noticeboard next to its fence reminds about the neighbouring legendary townhouse number 22 called 'House of Writers'.
Magical place, it's like Mehoffer's family is still there, but not in a creepy way ;)
Great garden, very quiet place to calm your mind
Set in Mehoffera's town house I really enjoyed this visit. Furniture and paintings set out pretty much as they would have been when the family lived there. Was expecting something more akin to a museum but felt very natural.
Helpful staff and information boards about the pictures and other artefacts.
Visit took me an hour and a half. One for the artist or historian rather than a casual visit but good non the less. Not a place kids can run about due to the openness of the exhibits.
