Reviews from visitors:
Recently , Chinori Motobayashi published a collection of poems " Chinori - Mermaid in the sea of memory " written in Japanese and English in collaboration with her cousin Madam Ishida and a professional poetess Mariko Sumikura . Michiko Tohiguchi is in charge of illustration . This is composed by Chinori , who has been suffering from the after effects of accident for more than three decades , in which Ms. Sumikura's verses connect to Chinori's poetry . This is a heavy theme . But one thing I can say is that Chinori doesn't spend her time only in moaning . And we can get a courage in this difficult situation with the corona virus pandemic . You can get this on Amazon , Kindle .
Amazing museum with a renovation project by stararchitect Jun Aoki
good art but pricey
The main building is currently closed due to renovations (until 2019) however my husband and I visited the exhibition currently being held at the annex and were not disappointed. Was a beautiful and very clean space with lovely art pieces and a wonderful exhibit displaying artworks by children in the community. It was very heartwarming to see how Kyoto values creativity and individuality of its young people and was honestly one of the hi-lights of our time in Kyoto.
It was closed until April 12. The staff were very helpful and I enjoyed the sculpture garden and the ceramic fair featuring some very talented artisans.
