Stop as part of a walking tour, interesting to hear the history of the mural and the history of the Fado that it tells. Don't make a special visit, but a minor detour is worth while.

Fado is a Portuguese genre of traditional music, entered in 2011 on the list of intangible cultural heritage of the world. It has always been present in Portuguese art, from paintings from past centuries to contemporary graffiti walls.
The most famous tribute to Lisbon's graffiti is the Fado Vadio, a wall located in Escadinhas de São Cristóvão. It is a project by Movimento dos Amigos de São Cristóvão, a small group of people living in the neighborhood who, with the help of a few talented artists, came together to pay tribute to Fado and beautify a piece of urban space.
Escadinhas de São Cristóvão is one of the many typical narrow, steep streets in the old neighborhoods of Mouraria, which is probably the birthplace of Fado.
The ruined building where the Fado Vadio was painted belongs to a public company that has agreed to the project.
One of the companies funded the paint and the artists worked for two days to create a beautiful piece that really turned this little corner into an even more special place.
The picture is full of symbols and references related not only to Fado (among them were popular fado singers like Maria Severa and Fernando Maurício) but also to the city and its surroundings, such as the image of São Cristóvão, the patron saint of travelers. There are lyrics, popular decorations for city celebrations, and of course bread and wine!
