Reviews from visitors:
Very disappointing. Don’t go if you don’t understand Italian, even tough they advertise English as an option.
You will receive a tablet with long texts on them to read in English, while the natives watch/listen to videos on theirs. They are able to look around while listening, while you have to read half a book and have no time left looking around. It’s tough understanding anything as all introductions and intros are Italian-only.
Apart from the very disappointing service, it’s a beautiful castle and I hope the tour will improve or just mention the experience is not available in English.
Nice place, but there is not s lot to see.
Main Castle of the region. It is an imposing fortress built by Gian Giacomo dell`Acaya (the offical architect of the Napolitano kingdom) since 1539 and ordered by Charles the V. This is the biggest Castle of the region. It is composed of two concentric bodies set apart from an internal court-yard. Also impressive is the D`Enghien room on the First floor. Presently the Castle is used for meetings and exhibitions, on the ground floor there is the Lecce tourist info point.
If you like sandstone walls, great but not much to look at. The amphitheatre is spoilt by the modern buildings practically in it they that close and surrounding it. As for parking forget it.
At daytime there's a nice passage from false door to real door. A walk through is quite nice. Most info boards are only in Italian.
