Reviews from visitors:
The State Tretyakov Gallery is excellent museum of Russian National Art since XI century through XX century. You are going to see thousand years of Russian art here. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light and tripod. Highly recommended for yours visit.
This must be included in the program of any tourist. Here you can spend half a day and find many famous paintings, photos of which you have seen around the world.
A very big gallery with great artwork (if you're a fan of it). You need at least a couple of hours to see all of it. The ticket is 500 rubbles for adults. But I'd recommend the Shimov gallery. Much more impressive.
The gallery's history starts in 1856 when the Moscow merchant Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov acquired works by Russian artists of his day with the aim of creating a collection, which might later grow into a museum of national art. In 1892, Tretyakov presented his already famous collection of approximately 2,000 works (1,362 paintings, 526 drawings, and 9 sculptures) to the Russian nation...
I have been in many state museums and galleries in Russia, but none of them were like Tretyakov Gallery condition and condition. This place includes many pictures from highly talented Russian artists. You should visit this gallery to see incredible art treasures of Russia.
