Rented here several time very good bikes and i thought friendly. However be aware they wont rent bikes for one day if its a spanish holiday the next day even if you offer to bring it back when they next open.bit unfair making you pay two days when you only want to ride one morning. Not pleased.
Rented two e-bikes for an adult and child. First day we had a problem with the drop post and had to return to store to change the child’s bike. We were then told we shouldn’t adjust the seat post as it’s a fault with the bike design and it jams a cable. Considering you are provided with the tools to do this we should have been advised against doing so as adjusting the bike seat post to fit a child is a reasonable thing to do. Despite not being warned I still offered to pay for the repair but was advised it wasn’t necessary. The next day we were out for 30 minutes and the adult bike chain broke. Had to return to our accommodation and proceeded to try to contact XBikes by phone (as per the sticker on the bike), by email and by Facebook messenger without success. Hours later I was replied to on Facebook and asked which bike I had. Immediately responded but no reply back from the shop. Tried contacting them again as a full day had almost passed of our three day hire. It took until the next day for them to get in touch after I told them to collect the bikes and provide a refund for the two days we were unable to use them. The owner arrived to collect the bikes and refused to give a refund saying we should have contacted them sooner. Reminded him we contacted them in three different ways immediately and they didn’t respond after checking which bike we had. The owner said we still had use of one bike, how can a child use an e-bike on his own with no adult with him? Eventually they agreed to one day refund but as we had two days where we couldn’t use them we feel both should be refunded and will take this up with the credit card company we used to pay.
If you do use this company ensure you use a credit card to pay too so you have some protection if and when the bikes aren’t fit for purpose.
Things can go wrong but it’s how it’s dealt with that makes all the difference. Customer service can make or break an experience and the lack of it on this occasion led to a bad experience.
Had a small accident and ended up with a slightly buckled journey. Having owned and worked in a bike shop for many years. All it would have taken would be ten minutes in the truing stand to rectify the wheel. Met with the lady at front desk, immediately informed me that it would be at least 30 minutes to fix it. Asked could I speak to the mechanic - no he's with a customer but it's still gonna take at least 30 minutes to fix the wheel. Are you a mechanic I asked? - No. Ended up cycling on with a buckled wheel for another 50kms. Got there in one piece and found a local bike shop... 10 minutes later I had a trued wheel.
bought a component that lacked a small piece, brought back and they didn't believe me ... eventually found me the missing piece but were casting aspersions that I had lost or broken it or something. Felt very uncomfortable and disrespectful.
My brother and I rented a road bike each for a day. Great bikes and service from the people at X-Bike. Try a ride to Frigliana and Competa. The scenery is stunning and the roads are smooth and quiet. Be aware if you rent a bike on a Friday, it has to be back by 1400hrs. However, they did give us a bit of discount. Looking forward to doing this again.
