Reviews from visitors:
One of beautiful place to visit in Southern Province and it is a place of great biodiversity
Well it was a wonderful experience of tropical flora and fauna, if u wannna get a experience of a rain forest Sinharaja is the best.
This is the one of valuable rain forest in Sri Lanka. Lot of people are coming to see this forest specially foreign tourists as well as local tourists. There are lot of rare local trees, animals, reptiles, birds etc can be seen here. And also UNESCO has announced this rain forest as a world heritage forest. So now this own everybody in the world. Those who are loving nature definitely has visited to see those trees, animals, birds, fishes, reptiles in this forest
The larger of Sinharaja’s resident mammals are elephants and leopards, both of which have been confirmed to be living within the forest reserve. More common sights are giant squirrels, monkeys, chameleon lizards, wrinkled frogs and non-venomous snakes. There are also many nocturnal residents in the forest that are usually only seen at night such as mongoose, civets and bats.
Perhaps one of the most talked about and notorious resident, however, is the leech. Leeches thrive in Sinharaja and leech bites are extremely common but quite harmless.
The only way to enter Sinharaja is on foot, accompanied by a national guide. The reserve can be entered from three different sides, but the more common entrance is via Deniyaya, a small and dusty town on the edge of the rain forest. The guide will take your on a trek through the lush vegetation of the Sinharaja floor, explaining the importance of the rain forest to Sri Lanka’s ecosystem and helping you to uncover the diversity of the area. Depending on which side you enter the forest, there may also be an option to swim in a fresh water lake underneath a waterfall. The walk itself can be adjusted to suit your needs but will usually take around 3 hours. It’s a beautiful walk with plenty to see, however the paths can be quite muddy and slippy and weather conditions can also be erratic in the off-season.
And also on of the very attractive places in Sri Lanka. And I like to request from every visitors.Don't put any plastic or your packages. Not only this place,All over the world. We want to protect our nature.Animals are the part of our life and lives. Please don't feel this like a another warning. This is not a warming. This is a good think, good habit.Keep it in your mind and feel the nature.Try to be a nature lover.Good journey.
You can experience a forest environment and 5 waterfalls
