Reviews from visitors:
Beautiful baroque church.
Actually it's an archeological museum where you can see the oldest mother in the world.
To visit
Grand church in this beautiful tiny square, ornately decorated visually looks great..
Former cloistered convent built in 1750, commonly called "Chiesa delle Monacelle", due to the presence of the young nuns of the enclosure present there is now also the seat of the archaeological museum, famous above all for the presence inside of the famous "Donna di Ostuni" , the expectant mother with a fetus dating back to the Paleolithic (dating to the calibrated carbon between 26461 and 26115 A. C) and found in 1991 in a cave in Santa Maria di Agnano. The remains along with those of the fetus are exhibited in a glass case together with many other finds of remarkable state of preservation and of great historical and cultural value. Very beautiful and evocative the terminal room of the exhibition with Diorama della Donna which tells its story (and the life of that era). The church from where the visit of the museum begins and ends and is characterized by the walls of a dazzling white that immediately recall to the memory of the visitors why the name "white city" with which Ostuni has always been identified.
Very impressive are the upper grates on the walls, through which the sisters of the cloister attended the rites and Eucharistic celebrations, not being able to do it between the assemblies of the faithful. The entrance ticket costs 5 euros, it is possible to be guided during the visit by the present staff or by the explanatory pamphlets found at the entrance. I advise you not to miss the opportunity to visit the place.
A large church overlooking the narrow streets of the historic center of Ostuni and a few steps from the Cathedral. Every time I went to Ostuni I always found this church closed. Externally it is in good condition, with a large entrance door and many details to be admired on the facade.
Beautiful and very ancient church where the cloistered nuns lived.
Inside are paintings and paintings from the 1700s. The pipe organ is beautiful.
Inside the church is housed the museum.
