Two words. Shawshank Redemption. You know that smell when he crawled through the sewer to freedom? Same smell here. It was seriously bad. I guess when you’re right next to a water treatment facility that comes with the territory. Other than the nauseating smell of poo being chemically treated the attraction itself was mediocre. There is one really big gator and lots of birds. Was a little sad because there’s sludge all around. It’s also pretty short walking end to end. It’s free so whatever.
I come to Port A every year with my family and just today did we find this place! So nice and the sounds are beautiful. Also, the alligator I saw was huuuuuuuuge!
Great birding spot March 19, 2021. Easy access and lots of bird species plus one large gator.
Very nice place to do photography ‼️Saw three whooping cranes off in the distance. The only thing I don’t like is the sewage aroma‼️I think the gator, who resides there, loves it though.
The water birds seen we unbelievable! Brown and white pelicans, herons, and ducks just to name a few. And the resident alligator is always a draw. This is a must to see.
