Reviews from visitors:
Absolutely worth visiting. The museum brings you from period to period and has lots of peculiar artifacts on display - including chopped hands of burglars and thieves in medieval Rīga. Only downside is maybe the lack of more descriptive, contextual tags. It would definitely benefit from audio guides in a variety of languages, and perhaps some more interactivity.
Interesting building, lots of great details.
Very good museum. All the things were placed in the very systematic way. Also I followed the guides which you can find in every exhibition hall, so it was very enjoyable tour on the museum.
I just wonder why they don't have a full guide book in the shop, as all the text is already ready.
For 3 euros you can not go wrong. There is a guided tour as well. Amazing collection of historical Latvian stuff neatly organised, by time period as well. Also recommended for fans of model ships, from sail to modern engined.
We arrived at 16:33. They said it was tol late. Seriously?...
