Nixe place for a short stay. Entrance fee 2,50.
nice view from the cliffs but the sculptures could use some upgrade. no explanation, no signs or tour. Although entrance fee is only 2,50€ in my opinion it is not value for money. No toilets available on the site. Site is not accesible for disabled persons. Tip: For the restaurant at the entry chk the menu before entering €€€.
They were created from the end of 1894 to 1907 by Abbé Adolphe Fouéré (1839-1910). In 1894, he was forced to retire as titular priest to Rothéneuf. It was then that the ecclesiastic began his work, carved directly into the granite rocks. During thirteen years he sculpted more than 300 statues. In 1907, affected by paralysis and with difficulty in speaking, he was forced to interrupt all his activities. He died on February 10, 1910.
The entrance fee is 2.5 Euro per person and she wouldn't allow us to go in with food we had. We changed course and walked above the parking lot where a marked trail takes you to a beautiful beach with granite rocks on both sides. The came up quickly and we enjoyed the cakes we brought. Take notice the parking belongs to the restaurant.
The entrance fee of €2.50 is a ripoff at best... Since what you get to see is not all that much I would NOT recommend going here. Note that the money is not being used to maintain the place, which makes it even less appropriate
