Love the combination of engineering and art in Theo Jensen's beautiful Strandbeests.
Wish there were bigger outdoors space to see the Strandbeests really walk. But it was great to be able to see them up close in this museum.

I think it is a reliable gallery that will answer questions honestly.
Many paintings are displayed in the large gallery. In addition, there are numerous and many more paintings standing in a narrow space, so it is recommended that you take your time.
You can see quite a few paintings on the internet homepage. (There are many reasonably priced items.)
I bought two oil paintings (with frame) here.
Because there is no car parking space, we used the adjacent pay parking lot.

Definitely a worthwhile visit when in Sapporo, particularly during the winter festival.
There's large ice sculptures and light decorations that stretch the streets. The park itself is quite long, it's a great spot for a walk.
During the winter festival, they have a German-fest, which is really just an excuse to sell sausages, beer, and hot chocolate. Lots of knock knack shops if you're looking for local crafts to bring back.
Would highly recommend a visit even though the future winter festivals will be toned down and scaled back.

It's a nice place to stroll around, sit and read.
The cafes nearby are good too.

Loved everything in this place, the park itself with many roses midAugust, the bubbles and moving characters, the factory inside was amazing. I enjoyed the scenery with hot chocolate in a cafe overlooking the park and mountains. Definitely worth the visit!

Worth a visit for the view.
It’s small and you won’t spend too much time to see it all, but the view on a clear day (or snowy) is great.
Good sized gift shop on the 3rd floor and a super small one at the observation deck.

Super pretty place, I loved the glass pyramid. We visited in winter so we couldn't see anything else except for it, but sleds and snow shoes are available for rent if you're looking for an activity. I would've gone sledding down the hill if we had time during our visit. I think this place is prettier in summer when you can see all the art installations. I plan to visit as much as I can in other seasons.
12 Historical Village of Hokkaido

Amazed to witness the beauty of this village.
Japan is really good at preserving the history and culture. In this village you can see old houses brought from various locations of Hokkaido.
You can see old Sapporo station exit here and much more.
If you are interested in History and Culture do visit this place.

Odori Park West 3-chome Three women in leotard poses Izumi Statue ❗
Sapporo citizens are familiar with it
Inside the quiet residential area, there is a building used by Sapporo-born sculptor Arata Hongo as an atelier gallery.
Ordinary house without sculpture
First of all... Reception at the main building of Sapporo Sculpture Museum ❗ In the memorial hall, we will change from shoes to slippers.
The staff is very kind
The photo is , but... to put it on something
So I can't show it ⤵️Sorry‼ ️
15 Nijo Market

Relatively small market, which is to be expected when it’s so central to the city I think, but loads of fresh seafood there! Went pretty early in the morning and there is a paid car park across the road, just pay the fee and hand your keys to the supervisor and they will park your car for you. If you go early, just be careful of boxes! People are still unpacking their supplies for the stores, but very welcoming overall. Enjoyed my experience here.

fun to walk through in the winter. the big area wasn't open so only the greenhouse, but for sure worth going to if you're a fan of plants. the full experience will surely be better in non-winter months

For me, it is a nice place to do self study. So quiet. A library is ready for you to explore. There is a cafe inside. But I don't have chance to try. Maybe next time.
I do my best to keep this list as up-to-date as possible. I last updated it in October 2024. If you know of a street art that should be on the list, let me know. Click here to contact me. Thanks!
