Relatively small market, which is to be expected when it’s so central to the city I think, but loads of fresh seafood there! Went pretty early in the morning and there is a paid car park across the road, just pay the fee and hand your keys to the supervisor and they will park your car for you. If you go early, just be careful of boxes! People are still unpacking their supplies for the stores, but very welcoming overall. Enjoyed my experience here.
Not worth it. It’s a small market and they pester you endlessly to come buy their fish. Although that’s typical at these types of markets, usually the prices aren’t so high. Nijo market is small yet so freaking expensive. Not just the market, but the restaurants are so overpriced and the portions are crazy small. I ordered king crab legs and gindara. The king crab legs didn’t taste good at all and it tasted similar to conveyor belt crab. Not to mention that the legs were not even large nor was it full of meat.
Nice seafood market for eating fresh crab , oysters, shrimps and fruits. Just order your seafood and they will prepare them for you. And you can it in the store. Good price for good quality food. A little bit crowded but be patient and you will eat very good food from Hokkaido.
So many hidden gems at the market. Best area to taste everything seafood. Remember to stand and or sit down and eat, extremely rude to be in motion and consume at the sometime.
Hot milk and live cut shrimps were the my favourite. Don't forget a great bowl of don to taste the Uni, Scallops of Haikaiddo.
Great fun! The stall holders definitely know their customers.... Mostly tourists, and they can pack everything for you very neatly for the journey with ice packs and foam boxes.
Try the sushi restaurants there, can't go wrong with any of them really.
