Reviews from visitors:
I assumed I would be going to learn about African art from Africans, I was very disappointed to see otherwise.
I am well aware how so many African artifacts came to be in the possession of ‘others’ and it is not right.
We deserve to learn of our people’s history and art from our people.
Also, a room full of black ppl do not need to be told “not to be ashamed of being African”
I’m not ashamed. I don’t need anyone to tell me that. Or to assume that I am.
Had a wonderful time! Did the West African Tour and it had an abundance of beautiful artifacts! Our tour guide (the doctor) was super nice and seemed to be very well educated, he knew the lengthy history of whatever artifact we had questions on! Please drop by, it’s free and a must do when in Savannah!!
Amazing museum with so much to learn about! Not to mention the beautiful historic home it is located in. A must see.
We had so much fun last
A great learning experience
Collection includes beautiful pieces from Central & West Africa! Tour guide was fabulous! A must see when visiting Savannah!
