The Telfair Academy is a clean, informative, and contemplative space that provides a welcome quiet reprieve for those looking to have a glimpse into Savannah’s history. A word of advice, bring a pair of headphones for your phone as the Academy is offering audio tours via QR barcodes at the various exhibits. This adds a level of depth to the displays as there are a few that have minimal information in writing. The staff is courteous and helpful, and there are easy to follow signs on the floors indicating the flow of travel. Grab your masks and head over to the Telfair Academy for some quiet contemplation on life, art, and an integral piece of Savannah’s history.
Just not an interesting place and I love museums. I didn't know who Telfair was and I really still don't. Nice building from outside but nothing inside. Lot of plaster cast and artists I never heard of. The "bird girl" is there!!!. But that's about it. Admire it from the outside, save your money. But, do go and see the other museums. They are well worth it. With so little to offer in this museum, this one should be free.
I enjoyed my visit. Things had changed somewhat since my last
visit. It was so beautiful and charming to see new exhibits on display. I have been going to the Telfair since the early years of my career.
It's hard to believe this museum was once a home, it's huge. Could play basketball inside the one room that now holds paintings and statues. Enjoyable to walk around and see art. Super high ceilings. Some rooms are set up with furniture when it was a home.
Cool to see the Bird Girl statue and the gallery room is pretty impressive. However they still don't have the numbers up on exhibits for a self guided audio tour.
