Reviews from visitors:
Went to pick up some spray paint and left with a new favorite spot. I called ahead to check prices and that's was done no problem.
Upon arriving, David and Julia gave me good suggestions and alternatives for what I was looking for. They were knowledgeable and patient.
As I was checking out, I decided to get a paint market as well. Charlene provided helpful comparative information that guided me to a decision I was happy with.
Looking forward to future visits for quality items at a good price with good service.
We visited on new year's day. My sassy kid was so excited by all of the supplies. It was very organized, well lit, good prices and honestly a painter's dream as far as varity. 2 out of 3 employees I spoke with were super nice and helpful. The third just seemed tired and busy but not rude. I will go back when I'm in need of art supplies and would suggest this place to other painters.
First the pros:
1. Prices are fair and you can often get a great deal when they run a sale.
2. Lots of variety to choose from.
3. Service is fast.
The con:
This is a major one for me. As a person of color, I try very hard not to assume that a sales person is treating me differently due to my ethnicity. But each time I shop here, there are these little micro aggressions I pick up on from a few of the associates that leave me feeling like my presence is not appreciated or that I'm viewed as a loss prevention threat. I've worked retail for years and I know how certain groups of individuals are treated in contrast with other groups. It's never in your face but there is this undercurrent attitude - i.e. "why are you here"; "I need to keep an on eye this person"; preferential checkout services to a certain ethnic group although it was clear I was in the line first; or this particular rule applies to you but not the other customer.
It's rare that my family and I shop here because it's not a convenient location for us, but I like to treat my children to this store because they love the variety of art supplies. It is truly unfortunate that the few times we have shopped here, the experience is consistently the same.
As the saying goes, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." It's safe to say that'll I'll be choosing another art supply store in the future. I'm sure you won't miss my business though.
Used to be ultrecht. Lots of great quality art supplies and good stuff for kids. Very friendly staff.
I agree with some of the others that left reviews. I felt like they segregated me and made me feel like an outcast. I ended up leaving and will give my business elsewhere. My daughter could have spent tons of money there because art is her favorite however this place will NEVER get my business. Do yourself a favor shop elsewhere.
