Reviews from visitors:
The story behind the discovery of this ancient Greek Bronze Statue is fascinating. Capitan Ciccio of Mazara del Vallo Discovered this 485 meters beneath the sea. It was identified as a Hellenistic DANCING SATYR
The restoration took 4 years and was done by hand with mechanical and hand tools. The DANCING SATYR is featured in the
Museum of the Sicilian Canal in Mediterranean.
A comprehensive video of the discovery can also be viewed at the museum.
Fascinating video and an incredible save of an historical piece of art. The captain of the fishing vessle that pulled the piece up from the deep still lives in Mazara (Sept 2019) and is charming to hear.
Costs 6 euros per person. Worth watching video about the fund and restoration which lasts 25 minutes.
Absolutely amazing museum with a beautiful story. A must see if in the area.
A wonderful discovery. The ticket is a little expensive but the statue is magnificent.
