Reviews from visitors:
This is a great place to visit. It can be a little crowded at times but the place is big and people can spread out and so it's not too bad even when there's a lot of people there.
Being the only Mayan ruin on the coast makes it really a spectacular site. I highly recommend taking a boat tour and seeing the ruin from the ocean as well because it's quite impressive.
When we were there the beaches were closed because of the sea turtles hatching but the beaches looked absolutely beautiful along the ruins.
The road going up to the ruins is closed and so they have you parking about a quarter mile away and walking up from there but it's not a bad walk.
When you get there they're going to be people trying to flag you down and getting you to park at their property and sell you different tours but you don't have to do this. you can simply Park and walk up to the site and pay for your ticket there at the gate. We felt like we actually got a good enough deal from the guy where we parked that it was worth our money to pay for parking and the boat tour and our ticket to the ruins all the same time but we had to negotiate to get the good rate.
if the beaches are closed when you go to the ruins you can go to the beach just down the road from the ruins within the same parking lot and enjoy a great beach experience there.
AMAZING!!! Absolutely stunning. So much culture and history to see. Would 100% recommend for all ages. Not a super difficult walk, though might be bumpy if you are in a wheelchair. Still a great place to visit. Gorgeous!
This is a nice national park. I went here on a tour bus and was satisfied with my experience. My tour bus parked in the parking lot near the ruins, so I got out. There’s an area with a lot of shops and an ice cream place by the parking lot, which is pretty nice. I walked through the shopping area and to the ruins. I got to the ruins and walked around them, which was nice. There were lots of ruins and a couple completely preserved buildings, which was nice. You could also see a beautiful view of the ocean from the ruins. There’s a beach by the ruins that you can go to, but I didn’t go there, so I can’t comment on how good that is. After I walked around the ruins, I ent to get some ice cream from the ice cream place in the shopping area. I tasted pretty good, and I left the park after eating it. I gave this National Park five stars because it has nice ruins.
Overrated because of location. Go to Coba instead if you want a more majestic site.
Definitely not worth driving all the way there this year. I managed to enjoy because of my company and we were amazed by the views from the public beach near there. I was absolutely disappointed when I found out the water is not pink at the moment (because there's no official website to get info from, even though the place is run by a private company). I had the chance to talk to some locals and they recommended me going back next February 2021. Speaking of the management of the place, I didn't like it that they force you to take a tour guide and you can be inside only for 45 minutes (considering the place is really far, this was a huge ).
