Reviews from visitors:
An old scuffed-up joint that's been in its current location near the #1 gondola since Vail opened, and probably hasn't seen the first nail of repair since it opened. The location insures its perennial popularity. The place reeks. It's dirty. The service is slow and surly. The food is slapped together by people who neither care about nor know what they are doing. The drinks are preposterously expensive for such a dive. Be careful going down the perilous staircase to the restrooms or you'll miss your footing and break your crown. Enjoy the crowds!
I will say the food was good so they do have that. But we went for the super bowl, ordered and ate dinner/apps and we’re still ordering drinks when they told us we had to leave with 2 minutes left in the second quarter so that they could set another table who didn’t have a reservation. My boyfriend had a full beer still and I was trying to order another when they made us cash out, which is something I just don’t understand in the service industry when their patrons are still racking up a tab. This left us with a salty taste so we will not return.
The place is outdated and poorly taken care of. The hostess couldn’t care less about their job. The waiters were quite attentive and at least explained when changing shift. The veggie plate was diverse and well arranged. Burgers are flat and overcooked. The burger was a pile of stuff falling apart. Veggie sandwich looked and tasted well but the bread could have been toasted. This place might be considered good if you walk of slopes really hungry but I would not eat here for a planned dinner.
Excellent food, great drinks, and located in the heart of the village, The Red Lion is not only a perfect place to unwind after a day on the hill or a day at work. Great view with an indoor patio area to watch the crowds flock by while eating a beautifully done blue cheese burger and washing it all down with a cold brew. I can recommend Shane and Scott as servers as well, those guys are always kind and on point.
The live music is an awesome part of this place. Very fun and entertaining time! Good food. Good experience.
