Nice place, so relaxing on the neris
I just love this place. I visit it every couple month but when summer comes around I go there once a week. The place is just so peaceful and lovely there always are some art pieces there. And I just love the sound of the little river and that u are able to get close to it with no problem.
A must for tourists in Vilnius. Located inside the "Republic" of Uzupis, very close to the other attractions of the old town. You may find there the studios of some local artists and nice souvenirs shops. It is also a very quiet area. When it is warm outside, you may go there to chill by the river. Ask at the shop near the piano for a Uzupis visa stamp!
Uzupis flaunts a double identity as a self-proclaimed independent micro-state and as an open air art gallery at the heart of Vilnius. Some of its art installations are permanent, while others are rotating (check its website for occasional site-specific performances too). No border controls, no passports required. Just keep an open mind and make sure you carry your surreal sense of humour to explore this intriguing little enclave which boldly traces the shifting frontiers between contemporary art and political discourse.
