Astounding, stark, powerful, tragic, and glorious. There is nothing else to say about this place, one must be there, to feel it in you soul.
Such a beautiful place to visit in the heart of Volgograd. It's absolutely free to visit, but keep in mind, there are loads of steps and stairs to be taken until you reach a perfect view of the Mamayev.
In English, they call it 'The Motherland Calls' commemorating the Battle of Stalingrad. It is the tallest sculpture of a woman in the world without the podium.
The Mamayev isn't the only sculpture you'll see, there's plenty of other absolutely stunning sculptures leading the way. A must go if you're in the city.
I decided to post this video because a lot of families lost their relatives, and now we know that there is a memorial to our khazakh batyr
