Was here when there was a Public Art Exhibition. If You guys wants to come over, you guys need to make a reservation 1 day in advance.
A new art gallery in Yogyakarta!
Located very near to the Prawirotaman street which tourists often choose as lodging place, this art gallery will be close to other galleries as well as many batik shops and restaurants or cafes.
The architecture is very modern yet simple, perfect for extravagant art it always exhibit every 3 months. No big sign though but you can see some of the arts and paintings from the street and you'll guess that it's not merely some artists' residence.
The place is quite small so the parking lot is very limited for some cars. I suggest take a walk here so you can go to the nearest galleries at ease all within walking range!
There is an exhibition room on the first floor, a small shop in the middle, a small meeting room, toilets and some sitting area with high tables and chairs. The floor plan on the second story mimics the floor below without the shop in the middle (used for one of the staircases instead) and with extra verandas on both wings.
The second story has more places to showcase the art with open spaces on both wings where they used it to showcase big art like sculptures. One wing is supposed to be a small bar maybe mostly used during opening event but on regular days, it is only an empty bar.
Come here during the night to better enjoy the place since the architecture design incorporate great lighting elements.
