A very interesting museum to visit and explore. The content feels otherworldly. The museum is housed in a set of connected old buildings, so the building itself is a great addition to the exploration.
Tips:
- buy a multi-museum tickets, to visit the other museums in the village. It's definitely worth it.
- if you have children with you, keep them close so that you can avoid them seeing things that might upset them.
Very weird museum! I never seen such a theme! I expected more statues than painting but it was fine. I paid 8.5 CHF for entrance fees as a student.
It took us a couple of hours to reach this museum from Montreux and we arrived an hour before closing time, but it was well worth the struggle of reaching it.
As a long-time fan of H.R. Giger, finding out that he had a museum in Switzerland made me quite happy, as I happened to be traveling to the country this week.
What an incredible artist, almost every painting or sculpture left me gaping in awe at it's absolute stunning complexity and beauty. Overall, the experience felt very sexual and of course, alien.
The gift shop was well stocked as well, and I left by purchasing a post card and a poster, which I will be framing and hanging up in my apartment.
If you're anywhere near this museum, be sure to pay it a visit!! Even if you've never heard of the guy.
This is a great museum! It is well curated, very unique, and offers a strong contrast to the otherwise medieval town. If you make the trip, I recommend also stopping at the Giger restaurant for a coffee.
Worst museum ever.
This is a simple house transformed in museum, there is no place for stepping back and watch from a distance.
There is absolutely no signs or any explanations, no bio on the artist, no context.
If you want to know more on Giger, avoid it. If you're a fan and already know everything, you might like it.
