This park is worth a visit. If you can find parking or access to it with the crazy traffic they have now surrounded it with. I went at night it was a lot easier but seemed sketchy here with the surrounding environment/neighborhood. If you don’t feel like venturing out of the city this is a perfect place to see some folk art of the south. But you can easily visit these art environments a couple hours north or south of Atlanta, as I would suggest doing, no restrooms or sitting but well light thankfully.

Tom Haney is one of the world's most renowned builder of Automata. His creations are profoundly detailed and every tiny movement is hand-crafted to look like these characters are alive by virtue of some sort of magic. And in fact, at least with Tom Haney, his genius is indistinguishable from magic. Unlike anything you have ever seen, Tom's amazing creations somehow capture the innocence of a time before electronics. His machines are controlled by custom hand-crafted gears and levers that add to each piece's unbelievable surrealism. Tom Haney is one of the best artists in his field and yet he remains easily accessible and genuinely available to discuss his work. I cannot recommend Tom Haney and his work strongly enough for anyone wanting to witness or capture a moment in unparalleled hand-made Automata.

Paige Harvey is not only an amazing person that makes everyone who visits her studio feel welcome, she is also an amazingly talented artist. She draws inspiration from her travels around the globe and brings her experience to life on huge canvases with rich color, complicated patterns and textured impasto that somehow conveys a message while nearly expressing a call to action. They are glimpses of animals in their natural habitats, doing what they do-. Whether they are persevering against the encroachment of man or frolicking in nature is left up to you to decide. What is clear, however, is that these paintings combine multiple different techniques and layers upon layers of abstract expression that are as dynamic and free-spirited as the artist herself. Paige Harvey Art Studio is a must-see during the Central Atlanta Progress First Thursday Art Walk in downtown Atlanta.
