Reviews from visitors:
I love Maunakea Marketplace for fresh seafood, but they've been devastated by the coronavirus shutdowns. Less than half the stalls were open. Business is usually slow on weekdays, but in this case, several stalls were completely vacant. On the other hand, it's still a great place to get shrimp, fish, ground pork, and some produce. Plus, there are plenty of shops very close by l, for whatever you can't find in Maunakea Marketplace.
It has been my first time being there. Enjoyed everything about that area. Enjoyed the people and how every thing looks great. I enjoyed shopping there and all the interesting things that are there.
Enjoyed shopping there because not crowded. Customers just whiz in and out. Vegetables are fresh and bagged. Others are not touching produce. Disappointed as vendors are starting to closing shop because of pandemic and validated parking was changed from 30 minutes to 20 minutes made it hard to shop leisurely at more than 1 vendor or to buy takeout if have a line.
Such an awesome place. Its so authentic that some of the vendors don't speak English. Good prices on ready made food, packaged food and lots of crafts and supplies. Also has good prices for barbers and other services. My hair cut was $15 ( gave her $5 tip to make $20) and Korean food was $8.50 for rice and 4 vegetarian sides. You don't need to speak the language, just politely point at what you want and the prices are posted. Outdoor seating is available in the center of the market.
