One of the best galleries out there, extremely well exhibited works and great curatory
From 12 to 22 July, on the second floor of Set opened an exhibition of Glory Kryzhanovsky's "Errors".
The modern man appears as a construction of a set of devices, among which the body and mind are only part of the structure. Yes, most gadgets are not embedded directly under the skin. But so firmly woven into our lives, that are new parts of the body, in the absence of which we become helpless.
Very soon, the idea of what a person outside looks incredibly expanding. We will have the opportunity to modify ourselves as we wish. Now, we are changing the body, trying to reproduce the unified ideal of beauty that corresponds to the mass taste. And since the 1990s, artists have been exploring the potential of metamorphosis to themselves. ORLAN has redrawn the face, collecting features of famous heroines of world art; Stellarc, in addition to his work extensions, implanted in his hand a third artificially artificially-grown hand. However, full freedom of modifications is available only in the virtual world, in the form of a game. Glory Kryzhanovsky sure that this is not just a game, but a rehearsal: the development of his future character.
Errors - a mockup of the museum, in which the visual documentation of unsuccessful modifications is collected for further study. Now the museum exists in the deadlift measurement, since all experiments occur in digital space. Glory makes the first step in developing a prototype museum of the future, where unformed human bodies will be presented, obsolete compared with new biomodification. What will come to replace them? Facial eyes, reflective skin, titanium skeleton? This is just a matter of time and our imagination.
