Reviews from visitors:
A gem of a museum in a lovely area a little of the tourist trail. Museum is actually a building around the back of the mansion shown. Collection of Ukrainian art from the late 19th century to ca 1980. Interesting to see general European art trends echoed up til ca 1939, romanticism, impressionistic etc. Socialist realism peasants follow, echoing an earlier era, while the work of the 60s-70s echoes the 20s- 30s. This beautiful palace is little bit hidden. I liked paintings from XX. century on the first floor. It is advisable to know basics in українська мова or русский язык. Not so English speaker friendly :)
Totally not suitable for disabled and parents with strollers. No trash bins.
Second building of Lviv National museum is situated close to the center of the city on the quiet street. The permanent exhibition presents the Ukrainian art of XX century that is housed in three small rooms. It's worth to remark that this collection is quite petty and unpretentious. A dozen of artists at most are displayed, though there are a couple of interesting paintings.
The building itself – the Dunikovski manse – is of much more interest. So if you get there, you’d rather confine yourself to palace viewing. The permanent exhibition is attractive only to the connoisseurs of Ukrainian art
Great paintings and some sculpture collection A lot of Ukrainian artists mostly c20th and some late c19th. Only 4 rooms open. The gallery not in the beautiful mansion but in adjoining structure.
Little information given in English and not much in Ukrainian which is a shame because what they do have is very good indeed.
Its also a shame that maybe not many people walk to this building belonging which presumably also to the national gallery. Shouldn't take more than 45 mins.
