The Front Room is one of the best galleries in Williamsburg, and consistently shows world-class work.
I was an exhibiting artist at this gallery. Not only did they have my work for a whole year and fail to sell it, they refused to pay for return shipping (INDUSTRY STANDARD) stating that they dont have a budget for group shows. I found out that they did paid for another artists return shipping but not mine. For them to not mention to artists beforehand or in a signed agreement that they don't plan to pay for return shipping is extremely irresponsible behavior. Then, they ignore emails when I try to work it out with them. They are taking advantage by expecting artists to pay for everything it costs to show with them. Thats not earning your 50%. They just sit back, do nothing for artists and collect a percentage. Dont show with this gallery. And you're better off buying the art direct from the artists....dont give these people their cut. They dont treat artists with respect OR even worse, they choose which artists they treat respectfully and which they ignore.
Awesome space, great people, and most importantly, great art!
