Reviews from visitors:
I really enjoyed this museum. It was understated but did a great job chronicling Latvia’s birth and evolution. The temp exhibit on Latvia’s century was a great way to learn about its emergence as a state.
A must see in Riga if you are interested about Latvia's history and how the country have been effected by two powers in east and west. and specially how hard have been to get their Independence. It's good to be one of the first places to visit in your list it will help you to understand other dynamics in the city and the county as whole.
Nicely curated museum with plenty of English signage. Friendly (and good looking) staff throughout the museum. Normal cost is 3€ but it was free for museum night. I only saw one floor but it was packed with very interesting Latvian history from the first independence through the Soviet tines and then until the most recent independence. Highly recommend this lovely museum to learn more about Latvia.
Very nice museum with sections from the Ice Ages to today. I enjoyed the permanent section a lot, especially from the Stone Age to Middle Ages time period. I definitely recommend this place if you are interested in history and archaeology. Both modern and ancient history are represented
Amazing place. I had a chance to be there and learn about the history of Latvia.
