Reviews from visitors:
I honestly wish I could give this place less than one star. I am but a naive art student attempting to navigate through the complexities of the art world which is why I am taking an art appreciation class in college. One of our assignments was to attend three exhibits and write our impressions on the way in which the artworks are organized and what we overall thought. Being that it was a Sunday and most exhibits were closed I decided to walk Geary and find what ever was open, Tangent was open. I walked in and was greeted with such a coldness that I felt as though I had just walked into a party I was not invited to, later I found that was in-fact the case. I went to ask the man at the front if it would be fine to take photos and said it was fine, then when I asked for the names of artists or a price list, I might as well have stabbed his God in the chest. He began with stating that it was not an exhibit, which I apologize for my ignorance, and boasted about how the first floor was only to show clients that they were in the right spot. Which caught me off guard, usually when you're making a first impression on someone shooing them off like a pigeon attempting to grab your bagel is the last thing I'd expect. There was also a point where midway through a sentence a group of girls walked in while he was standing on his soap box screeching at me and said, "see like that, that's what I don't want" or something along the lines making note on how they were simply enjoying the art, passing by and talking. To be honest, I don't remember most of what he said because I just didn't want to listen to a boomer lecture me about how taking an art class was a waste of time and I might as well shoot myself dead. I felt so berated for being uneducated in how priceless and oh how expensive and well known their art is that I really wanted to just leave on the spot, yet I felt compelled to see how long he could continue spewing word vomit at me. All the other exhibitors I've met were friendly and understanding, this one however made me feel like the poor plebeian I am to rich art snobs of the likes at Tangent.
The Dr Suess exhibit stopped me in my tracks.
Great music like experience
