Reviews from visitors:
Visited Mahendra in his shop after walking round Udiapore and contending with the heavy traffic, beeping mopeds and pushy shop owners. As we (my wife and I) stepped into his shop he asked us if we could push the door closed as its loud outside which instantly made me like him and his attitude. His small shop became an oasis of calm on a busy street. Without any pushy sales he described how the books are made by a cooperative and went into the materials used and how they are made, all spoken softly and with an obvious passion for the craft. We sat and took our time to see many designs and bought a couple of note books at the time while I ordered a specific size and style which he was happy to make for me and which I could collect later that day.
A very calm place to sit and look at well crafted items amongst the noise and confusion of the city
I had a great time entering this shop. Everything is stunning.. You can find hand made notebooks and photo albums. The notebooks are made with very good quality banana or coconut paper, and old recycled saris are used for the exteriors of the products. I bought a photo album, and my friend got a notebook. Moreover, the tenant is very nice!
I recommand you to go and have a look!
Great service! Amazing quality books and great price, our hotel manager said that I shouldn’t pay more than 1200 for the book I got and this was the first price I was offered, no additional tax for being a tourist, very happy!
Very welcoming and nice products!
