Most of the galleries were open Saturday between 12-4pm. The museums are closed so I wanted to hang-out in this art district. The galleries have awesome artists and their collections. The gallery owners are very polite and they need more people traffic especially in these covid days...
Fantastically curated gallery in a minimalist space which leans towards the forward-thinking and the abstract. The showcased artists are most often up-and-coming and they try to avoid having any piece, even rather large ones, being overly expensive (to-date, most of the pieces I've seen displayed are in the 4-figures). The messaging in the artwork displayed is most often subtle, with something left for creative interpretation. I usually find art that invites thought about it, rather than art that bluntly tells you what to think. If you want something creative which shuns the cudgel of pop art, Matter and Light may be a great place to find it.

Love this gallery. One of the only galleries in Boston with true quality control. This gallery only shows modern masters from the New England area. Whether you are an appreciator or collector of timeless and moving oil paintings, look no further. The monthly events they host are also very informative and fun with great artworld mingling. The current director, Alex, is a treat to work with. He has an extensive knowledge of all the artists shown there and of art history in general. Definitely worth a look if you're in Boston for a visit or seeking to expand your collection.
